Ship-2-Shore
FORMATS
Ship-2-Shore rust inhibitors are
available in 3 formats:
-
PLID AEROSOL is thin and highly penetrating.
Note: the propellant is flammable.
-
PLID BULK
is more viscous, longer lasting, but slower penetrating.
-
INDUSTRIAL is the most used format
and is used as a cable dress, an anchor chain lube/inhibitor and in
bilge's and other aggressive environments. It is easily sprayed.
Ship-2-Shore PLID
PLID
stands for Penetrant, Lubricant, Inhibitor, Dielectric.
Using Fluid Thin Film Coating (FTFC)
PLID
displaces water and most other electrolytes shutting down corrosion, but
it doesn't stop there, it also contains oxygen scavengers that remove
oxygen from the surface of the metal shutting down rust in two ways.
-
PLID
also contains an extreme pressure lubricant making it an excellent lube
for chains, fishing reels or anything needing a light extreme pressure
lube.
-
The strong electromagnetic attraction
to metal makes it an excellent penetrating fluid for loosening rusty
fasteners.
-
With a dielectric of 38,000 volts, it
can be used on electrical devices of all kinds, including communication
equipment, switches, electric panels and in electric motors, generators
and alternators, and on gold contacts in hand held phones.
-
Use on all types of metal.
-
Use to prevent electrolysis between
different metals.
-
Sunk an engine? Use
PLID
for filling and flushing then put back in service.
-
Sunk a radio or electronics? Soak in a
bucket of PLID.
Replacement of speakers, microphone and LEDs are commonly all that is
needed to put it back in service fifteen dollars later.
Many users say PLID performs magic.
Ship-2-Shore INDUSTRIAL
-
Extra
thick and tough. Apply with a brush or warm for spraying.
-
Not
highly penetrating but very tough .
-
Will
perform in very wet areas such as cutlass bearings on ship's drive
shafts.
-
Stays on
in rain and snow.
-
It's
being used on ship's anchor chains and in chain lockers. It's being used
on the inside of tug boats and barges where the only preparation before
application is hand scaling or light blasting.
-
Bridge
expansion rollers are an excellent application for
INDUSTRIAL as is the trellis
work, support beams and expansion joints.
-
Used
together,
INDUSTRIAL and
PLID
make a great team.
-
Use
PLID
to penetrate deep crevices "shutting down the rust", then apply
INDUSTRIAL for long term
protection.
-
Do you want your vessel bilge's bright? Needle gun, then apply a rust
converter, then an inexpensive porous primer, then a top coat with
INDUSTRIAL.
-
Seal them in with a hard coating for ultimate longevity. Apply PLID
to all cracks, seams and crevices allowing it to penetrate over night.
Wipe off any excess top coat with a oil base paint. When the hard
coatings fail and water or oxygen ingress, no problem, Ship-2-shore
will prevent any rusting under the surface, which will protect the
structural integrity of the unit, and prevent rust stains from marring
the cosmetic appearance, extending the life of the paint indefinitely.
-
Where
scaling is difficult or too costly, just pour in a generous amount of Ship-2-shore PLID
If you find all this too good to be
true, then you join a long list of past skeptics who now give it their
highest endorsement.
