Sulpher & Potash Loaders
July 2000
An International equipment rental company that supplies about eight large
front end loaders to a company loading bulk materials on ships including
sulphur and potash are responsible for maintaining the machines.
They coated most of the nuts, bolts,
wheel studs, crevice areas, the hydraulic pump between the loader arms,
all wheel studs and all the electrical connections to the computers with
Ship-2-Shore.
The machines were generally traded out
for new ones after six months but this year the machines were operating
perfectly and no corrosion was evident. The machines were put back in
service for another six months.
After one year the machines were again
checked and were found to be corrosion and rust free. So back to work they
went for another six months.
After a year and a half the machines
were replaced and upon disassembly and cleaning, no rust or corrosion was
found.
All electrical connections were like
new.
All nuts and bolts including wheel studs
were removed with an impact wrench.
The $9,000 hydraulic pump was always
replaced after six months due to corrosion, but when it was pressure
washed it was found to be like new.
The need to use a cutting torch, drill,
tap and easy-out was eliminated. The wheel studs came out with impact
drivers. The aggravation and expense of machine down-time due to corrosion
problems in the electrical systems was eliminated.
The owners and managers of the company are very pleased because an
investment in Ship-2-Shore
rust inhibitors of approximately $6,000 created a saving of at least
$500,000!!!
Ship-2-Shore
inhibitors performed well beyond their hopes and expectations. |
